Corner(ed) explores the existential tension between belonging and alienation, commissioned for the exhibition Aliens with Extraordinary Abilities, named after the visa classification required for foreign artists to live and work in the U.S. The installation takes the form of a literal corner, symbolizing the dialectical relationship between inside and outside, inclusion and exclusion. It embodies the liminal space where the physical and emotional realms intersect, capturing the profound sense of uprootedness that defines the immigrant experience. This intersection serves as a metaphor for the complex negotiation of identity and place, inviting viewers to contemplate the boundaries—both visible and invisible—that shape our understanding of home, self, and otherness.
